Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the main fighter of the Luftwaffe during World War II.
The F-4 model was widely deployed at the Eastern Front of Europe and Russia and North African Campaign. The aircraft deployed in North Africa was called "Trop"; equipped with a sand filter attached to the intake so that the engine supercharger would not suck in sand during takeoff and landing. Hans-Joachim Marseille, who flew this aircraft, shot down 151 aircraft here and was called the "Star of Africa".
