Following the Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank, the Type 1 Chi-Ha medium tank was developed as the
main battle tank of the Japanese Army. The development is based on the Type 97 medium tank, and the body is assembled from a structure centered on rivets to a structure that uses a lot of welding, and the armor thickness is also increased from a maximum of 25 mm to 50 mm. The engine was also strengthened from 170 horsepower to 240 horsepower and equipped with a set of 47 mm tank guns.
